Meet Quincy Davis.
Born and raised in Montauk, Quincy is best known for her incredible surf career. At only 5 years old Quincy began surfing, and by 12, she became the first surfer from New York to break into the top-tier of modern competitive surfing. In the years since, Quincy has gone on to dominate countless competitions and partner with numerous beauty and sportswear lines.
However, Quincy’s talents go far beyond surfing. In the summer of 2018, Quincy took her career to land when she opened her store, Quincy, in her hometown of Montauk. There you can find a curated selection of clothing, swimwear, accessories, and beauty products that speak to Quincy’s personal style and lifestyle.
We got the chance to hang out with Quincy at The Brunch Pool House, and hear more about her love for Montauk, surfing, and fashion:
What was your childhood like growing up in Montauk?
It was pretty much the absolute best. A dream, I grew up summers at the beach all day surfing and just riding my bike everywhere with my friends.I love the small town aspect and how everybody knows each other. I feel so grateful to have grown up here!
Why did you choose to stay in Montauk?
I have traveled a ton throughout my surfing career and would spend a decent amount of time in other places which I loved too. I would always get this excitement when I came home though and just knew it is where I want to base out of. Montauk is a very special place and I love living here. I think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Any secret Montauk spots you’d be willing to share with us?
I think the secret is out!
What is your favorite Brunch spot in Montauk?
Happy Bowls and Jonis, also Bird on The Roof just re opened and it is great!! I grew up going there for breakfast.
Was there one moment you remember falling in love with surfing?
Not particularly one moment but I was always trying other sports and I knew being in the water is where I wanted to be and felt my best. Like I had no doubt about that and I would tell my parents that and they were very supportive.
What are your favorite conditions to surf?
My fiancé makes fun of me that I am very picky now, I like head high glassy rights and warm water! Too much to ask for? Haha… Or any fun days out east in the fall. Something about the fall is just the best.
How has your experience been balancing your store with your surf career?
It's a balance! Both don’t actually feel like work to me and I really enjoy both. I definitely like being my own boss.
How would you describe your personal style?
A cool classic style is what I gravitate towards. I lean towards timeless pieces mostly. You can definitely feel that when walking into Quincy the store.Vintage loose fitting jeans, classic tees, lots of swimsuits for summer and I love an oversized cashmere sweater for fall. I live an active lifestyle so pieces that can effortlessly fit into that but also make me feel really good are what I like to wear.
After a busy day, how do you like to unwind? And what’s your favorite thing to throw on to lounge in?
I love to take a long outdoor shower, and just relax at home and watch a movie with my fiancé and dog in cozy sweats and an oversized tee.
What's your favorite thing to do in your new Brunch slippers?
Go for a coffee run and check the waves :)
