We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Freelance Footwear Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in footwear design, including CAD drawings, working with existing tooling, and collaborating on graphics. You will play a key role in the development process, ensuring our designs are brought to life with precision and creativity while aligning with our existing product line and material standards.

Responsibilities

• Conceptual Design: Create innovative and functional footwear designs that align with brand aesthetics, market trends, and the current product line.
• CAD Drawings: Develop detailed CAD drawings to visualize designs and communicate concepts effectively to internal teams and manufacturers.
• Tooling Expertise: Work on existing tooling to optimize designs, ensuring feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Graphics Collaboration: Collaborate with graphic designers to integrate prints, patterns, and other visual elements into footwear designs.
• Sample Development: Assist throughout the development process, providing input and feedback to ensure accurate execution of designs in physical samples.
• Material Selection: Recommend materials and construction techniques that fit within the current line and enhance functionality and design intent.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure that designs and material choices align with the brand’s established aesthetic, quality standards, and product vision.
• Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve design and production challenges as they arise.
• Trend Research: Stay updated on industry trends, competitor products, and market demands to inspire fresh ideas.

Requirements

• Proven experience in footwear design, with a strong portfolio showcasing CAD drawings and completed projects.
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD tools.
• Experience working with existing tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and fit.
• Awareness of how to align new designs and material choices with an existing product line.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Self-motivated and able to manage freelance schedules and deadlines independently.
• Knowledge of the product development cycle, from concept to physical sample.

About the Role
